Last Day in Denmark

Our last day in Copenhagen was spent exploring some of the sights that we missed earlier in the week. We visited the Carlsberg brewery - home of the famous beers Tuborg and Pilsener. There were historical displays and stables for the huge horses that used to pull the carts full of kegs. And beer. We passed by some beautiful examples of Danish architecture, complete with some very Viking looking embellishments.

The stone elephants represent Carlsberg beer.
This old shooting range used to be a pastime for the rich and privelged, but it has been turned into a fabulous playground for the city kids that live in the many surrounding apartment buildings.

Bikes, bikes and bikes parked outside central train station.
The entrance path to Tivoli - an amusement park and gardens established in 1843.
The ridiculous ride that the Oz-king and AG went on.
The Flying Suitcase - a children's ride developed in honour of Hans Christian Andersen. A much more sensible option and very enjoyable, thank you!

Part of the park near the Oz-king's apartment, which shares a back fence with the elephant enclosure at the adjacent zoo. On this afternoon, four females and the new baby bull calf were on display. Absolutley amazing!!

Just too cute! He would wander away from his mum for a few minutes and then run as fast as he could to get under her legs again. He also practised a bit of trumpeting. This was the highlight of a full and fabulous day. I will be sad to leave tomorrow.

  1. It sure looks an interesting country. The Tivoli Gardens have been a famous attraction for years. I heard it was getting grotty but maybe its had a face lift. Fancy AG going on that reckless ride. She's a tough cookie. It will be sad for you to leave the Ozking and his adopted country. I'm sure you'll be back. I had a planned trip to Scandinavia back in 1996 but my mum got sick and I had to stay here and look after her and that was my long service leave used up and I have never managed to get there yet.

    1. It has been amazing and I have learned a lot, too. If I go back it will be on a plane - directly to Copenhagen airport!
