On the Road Again!

Our second Scandinavian adventure took us east of Copenhagen and across the water to Sweden. This began with an underwater tunnel and another amazing suspension bridge.

The Swedish countryside is beautiful, with rolling hills covered in wheat fields as far as the eye can see, and it seems that every farm has a white farmhouse with a red roof and a huge red barn.
We stopped in the town of Gotheborg, which was celebrating the summer with an international food festival. It was easy to spot the Aussie flag and the inflatable kangaroo at the Australian Barbecue stand.

They were serving beef burgers, kangaroo burgers, crocburgers and...wait for it...camel burgers. Yes camel burgers! Not really surprising that we were disappointed with the beef burger, but we had to try.
After a little shopping in cobbled streets, we bid 'farvel' to Sweden and headed for our evening destination in nearby Norway, after crossing another engineering masterpiece.

We spent the night in a town called Fredrikstad, in a quaint hotel which was built in the 1860's. Fredrikstad is right on an inlet and has a history of ship building.

Being so far north in the world in summer, meant that the sun set at about ten o'clock at night. Tomorrow we will travel to Oslo - Norway's capital.
